The march through Bethlehem continues by Palestinians showing support for prisoners on hunger strike.

Much more than 1,000 Palestinians so far are held in Israeli prisons that have gone on hunger strikes.

The strike had been arranged through Marwan Barghouti, a prisoner and leading participant connected with the Fatah movement who is also viewed as a potential successor to President Abbas himself.

The Israeli penitentiary service states that nearly a 5th of an estimated 6,200 Palestinian prisoners will be taking part in this protest.
