Italy avalanche buried up the Hotel Rigopiano in the earthquake-hit region of Abruzzo. Up to 30 people are said to be missing under the snow and many feared dead.

On Thursday, the civil protection agencies of Italy said that they were working in order to get rescue vehicle to reach Hotel Rigopiano through the roads which were covered in snow.

The ANSA news agency also quoted a rescuer saying that there were a number of fatalities. The rescuer also reported that they were calling out for the survivors but no one responded.

The hotel is about 45 kilometers from the coastal city of Pescara. A series of 4 massive earthquakes hit the region, including one with a 5.7 magnitude.

The Weather conditions have also made the rescue efforts extremely difficult, along with emergency services are using a helicopter and skis to get personnel to the hotel.

Fabrizio Curcio, head of Italy’s civil protection department stated :

“Around 30 people are unaccounted for, between guests and workers at the Hotel Rigopiano in Farindola.”

Luca Cari, spokesman for the national fire brigades also said:

“We’re dropping our rescue units down by helicopter and they are starting to dig,”
