Earthquake Strikes Fiji

A Powerful and shallow earthquake strikes Fiji this morning with a magnitude of 7.2.

The initial quake was said to hit at 10:52 a.m., local time.

The Tsunami Warning Center said tsunami waves were possible within 186 miles of the quake’s epicenter but canceled the warning within an hour.

Luckily, there were no immediate signs of any damage.

The Center said in the warning issues:

Government agencies responsible for threatened coastal areas should take action to inform and instruct any coastal populations at risk in accordance with their own evaluation procedures and the level of threat.
