Recently, Alwaleed bin Talal, an influential Saudi Prince and a billionaire called his country to remove an “interesting” ban. The Saudi Government has a ban on women driving cars. This means, women are not allowed to drive cars in the country. Talal believes that women driving cars can boom the country’s economy. Saudi Arabia is the only nation in the entire planet where women are not allowed to drive cars. A lot of women activists are arrested for going against the ban. And, the influential prince is with these activists. He strongly believes that the ban has to be removed.

Alwaleed bin Talal says, “It is really high time the country allows women to drive”.

“There are more than one million Saudi women in need of a safe means of transportation to take them to work every morning,” claims the Saudi Prince.

Over the years, Prince Alwaleed has been identified as an outspoken member of the royal family, he has criticized many rights and regulations in the country and is a strong speaker for women’s rights in the nation. Though the Saudi Prince Talal has no political authority in the country, he is the chairperson of Kingdom Holding Company alias KHC. This company owns major stocks in the Euro Disney Theme Park and Citigroup (US). These are two important entities in the Saudi stock exchange. KHC is one of the world’s biggest foreign investors, with interests in news media, hotels and properties.

The Background

Indeed, the Prince is one of the wealthiest person in the world. He claims that preventing women from driving cars is like forbidding her from receiving fair education. In this modern age, these are unjust acts that should be removed lawfully.

“Retaining foreign drivers not only has the effect of reducing a family’s disposable income… but also contributes to the siphoning of billions of riyals every year from the Saudi economy to foreign destinations in the form of remittances,” he also adds.
